The New York Giants will be without another playmaker on Sunday after Sterling Shepard was ruled out due to a hamstring injury. Shepard joins Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney as Giants pass-catchers inactive against the Carolina Panthers.
The update on Shepard gives Darius Slayton’s fantasy outlook a major boost in Week 7.

Slayton is now in line to serve as Daniel Jones’ top target with three fellow receivers out.
Shepard stepped into that role last week, racking up a team-high 14 targets and 10 receptions for 76 yards. The Shepard-Toney-Golladay trio has accounted for 42% of the team’s targets this season, opening up a massive volume opportunity for Slayton.
Carolina presents a tough matchup as the No. 7 defense in Football Outsiders’ pass defense DVOA metric. This unit did just give up 373 passing yards last week to Minnesota, though, so they’re not impenetrable.
Shepard’s 17.6 PPR points in Week 6 also showcase appealing upside for Slayton in a similar position. Slayton is a great last-minute FLEX pickup for managers in need of a boost given the volume he should inherit as the No. 1 option.
